Winter Registration has begun

Back to school and training started on Monday, January 10th at Pacific Heights . Winter is one of our busiest intakes and as parents and students prepare for the  school year of 2022 it is important to note that karate training will improve your child’s success in a school setting. Benefits include not only the ability to stand up for themselves, but incrementally their focus on their studies will improve whether they are in class or studying at home, and they’ll find it easier to complete their homework.

All  karate training is held at Pacific Heights School gymnasium which has a beautiful sprung wooden floor for ease of use on growing or ageing knees. Andrew Statz, a certified school teacher and chief instructor, of South Surrey karate had initially many years of judo training under the critical eye of Nobi Sakiyama and Ron Uyeyama. Over twenty years of  karate training with Tak Samishima as his senior instructor as well as almost twenty years of juijitsu training with Steve Hiscoe developed a unique style of instruction. This led to a great appreciation of the depth of martial art training and what it means for any individual who is shopping for a martial arts club.
Sensei Statz is a local, semi retired school teacher. His background includes coaching and participating in many sports such as football, volleyball, swimming and hockey to name a few. Karate, however, is a lifelong passion for him and he is a practicing 6th degree blackbelt who has recently visited Japan with several karate students and parents from South Surrey Karate Club to compete in tournaments if they desire.
